We’re looking for a software development intern to help us grow our world-class web applications development firm here in Honolulu. We would like to meet students or upcoming graduates who can help us create elegant, effective, and eminently usable web applications. It would be helpful to be familiar with Ruby, Rails, MySQL, and all modern web technologies — standards-compliant XHTML, CSS, and Javascript/AJAX. Experience with PHP, Objective-C, and testing frameworks is a plus but not required &mdash it is an internship, after all. You will be working closely with our small team of developers to provide clients with solutions to their problems. We are happy to patiently train the right candidate, so if you think you can learn quick and perform admirably under deadlines, even if you don’t have much bona fide experience, give us a shot and send us your résumé. We are very open to anyone who has a minimum of experience but a maximum of talent, so please show us what you’ve got even if you don’t have any credentials.
Ideally we want someone who knows what Identity 2.0, SNS’s, and microformats are. We want someone who’s read ‘Getting Real’ by 37signals, ‘Refactoring: Improving the Design of Existing Code’ by Martin Fowler, and ‘Practices of an Agile Developer’ by Andy Hunt. And most importantly, we want to meet people who want to meet people like us. If this is you, we want to talk to you!
We like to deal with people who work on Macs (if you’re not serious about your tools, you’re not serious about your job). What you’ll get from us is experience with all the parts of real-world software engineering you don’t learn in school: version control systems, ticketing systems, milestones, releases, users, client requirements, design patterns, refactoring, and a whole lot more. Plus, you’ll have a lot of fun, and get a great referral for your résumé.
